20 years from now
Author’s Notes:
I’ve been tagged by Shu Ning to write about 20 years from now. I’m currently 16 and I’ll be 36 years old 20 years from now. (So Old!) I’ve decided to enjoy writing this as long as possible since it is holiday. But first of all it is important to read ShuNing’s 20 years from now as I got some of the idea from her. Don’t forget to read SzeMann’s cute 20 years from now too! I’ll insert her dream here. =D
Chapter One
I place my hand on her green leathery shell while TianWen grabbed my hand. Zihai on the other hand planted a kiss on Shelly head and started to swim back. I swim on with Shelly until I thought it was far enough and head back to the shore with TianWen. Jiock was there helping Zihai, or called by his father Caleb, taking off his bulky oxygen tank and suit. Jiock approach me when he saw us and helped me take off the diving equipment’s while Zihai helped his younger sister.
I smile at Elanor (TianWen) as she struggled to take the suit off! “How was it? My little baby girl’s first dive?” asked Jiock. Elanor looked up at her daddy and smiled, her eyes shining and replied: “It was wonderful!” Jiock smiled knowingly.
The wonders of nature never ceased to surprise us.
A woman in her casual pants and shirt came running up to us. I widened my eyes. Am I not dreaming? “Aunty ShuNing!” screamed Elanor as she rushed up to hug her. “Hi everybody!” said ShuNing as she gave us a wave. I embraced my dear old friend and hug her tight. “Its been a long time! I thought you would take forever just to come and visit me!” I exclaimed.
“I’m sorry! You know how it is! With the kids and my busy schedule, it’s hard to find time for anything at all! Luckily there’s Eric to take care of things for me. But don’t worry. Look, I’m here with my family on a holiday for at least a week!” said ShuNing.
“Really? Yipeee! Its good you took some time off for yourselves! I know delivering babies is very important but you got to take care of yourself before you take care of other mothers and their babies!” I lectured her.
“Yes Mommy!” she replied dully.
“I’m not your Mommy! Go find Sharon and call her Mommy!”
“Yes CheChe Dugong!”
“Whatever Meimei Dugong!” -_-‘
Zihai cocked his eyebrows at us while TianWen looked at us with a puzzled look on her face. ShuNing and I just chuckled.
“Speaking of Sharon, I’m supposed to inform you that there will be an Octaves Reunion on the 25th of October. Right after Sharon performance in Paris. I hope she would be able to come back in time!” said ShuNing.
“She better! Both of us will be waiting for our birthday presents!”
“Ugh… all you think of is your birthday present!”
“Nolah! I’m excited to see all the others too! It’s been such a long time since we met up together! Count me in! My family and I will be there! Don’t forget to invite our ever loyal fan Mei San ok?” I said.
“Mei San? I don’t even know where she is! She has been travelling all around the world giving philosophical lectures ever since she managed to move millions of people to help the tsunami victims.”
“What’s the problem? Just ask Kimberly to track her down with her worldwide ‘Whats’s Up’ mobile phone company. She have branches in almost every country.”
“Good idea! Anyway, when are you going to bring me see your all so famous turtles?”
“Whenever you are ready!” I said and laughed.
Chapter 2
I arrived a week earlier with my family! Even though I prefer to stay at the beach, it’s good to be back in the city where all my friends and family are. I’ve missed Malaysia a lot, especially its delicious food and mixed culture. There is no more true Malay, Chinese and Indian anymore. People are all from mixed backgrounds. The only thing that separated them is religion. However, Malaysians still manage to live in harmony and peace despite the differences. We still hold our culture strong within us and never forget our roots. I feel happy and proud of my own country. One day when I’m retired, I’ll come back as here is where I was born.
I managed to convince Sze Mann to come down with me. Her overly protective husband was very reluctant indeed to let her go and I had to swear a thousand million times that I would take care of her properly. Her hubby finally relented when SzeMann gave him her puppy eyes and ‘merajuk’. She brought together her little boyboy as her girl had to attend her kindergarten.
SzeMann was a professional dentist until she met up with her dream guy, a millionaire. Ever since then, she quited her job and lived comfortably in Switzerland with her two lovely children, her boyboy, TimLee and her girlgirl, RoseLee.
I was eager and overjoyed to meet my parents back home. This time, I plan to invite my parents to stay with me. My parents have been travelling all around the world visiting relatives, staying with my sisters and fulfilling their dreams. I felt glad to be with them. I stayed there for a few days to catch up woth all latest news and basked in the love of my family. Sze Mann on the meantime went to visit her parents too.
Soon, we got together in search of our other friends. “Goodness me! I’ve just realize how much I missed Malaysia!” said Mannmann.
“Yeah, totally!”
“Have you been keeping in touch with Liyi? Where is she now anyway?”
“Where else? University Malaya lah of course! She has been personally invited back from London to come and teach and do research here!”
“Guess she is really enjoying her microbiology. I’ve attended her lectures once on microorganisms that attack the teeth. She was good! No doubt she is a successful lecturer now. Did you buy her book? Lets go get that book and find her to get her autograph!” giggled Mann.
“Yeah! Remember how she used to love signing her own name!” I laughed.
We arrived at University Malaya and tracked Liyi down easily. She was so surprised to see us and gave us two a good hug as tears came pouring down her cheeks.
“I can’t believe my eyes! What are you two doing here? First, Debby then now you two! This must be a great reunion year for me!”
“Debby?” we asked, puzzled.
“Didn’t you know? She just came back a week ago! With a new baby son too!”
“Whoa! Her fifth child!” I exclaimed.
“Gosh! She is busy being a mother!” Mann chuckled.
“Lol! She is staying at Sunway temporarily. She is taking a break from being the headmistress of Oxford Junior High School! Wanna go visit her? I’m free for the rest of the day.” said Liyi.
“Heck, sure no problem!”
“Lets go!”
The Voice of My Heart
Wow, its like the second time i drank it in my whole life or something like that. But i don't know whether its the real thing (might be fake one or cheap one) or whether it would really be benificial to my body. I only know that it was lovingly cooked by my ama and i'm definitely going to drink it! sigh... but my ama and mama and my anson a gong are now like 8 hours behind malaysia which i don't know how many km it is but definitely far away. They just left this morning and i've already start missing them! They are off for two weeks! I just hope that they will enjoy themselves and come back home safe and sound.
Anyway, HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!
